Trend Charts

Trend charts show information about the rate of consequent events in relation to the workload (i.e., the number of samples received in the transfusion service and the number of transfusions administered over a set time period).

Workload information is used because looking solely at the numbers of events charted over time can be misleading. For instance,an increase in the number of events may coincide with an increase in workload which would mean that the rate of events actually stayed essentially constant.

To generate a trend chart, workload information must first be entered into the Monthly Activity section of the Report Generator.

Two types of local information are required to complete the Monthly Activity section:

• total number of transfusions per month
• total number of samples processed per month
